By far one of the top videos I have done. This is also the piece that has made me go into professional digital video. It was actually thought to be the property of Pioneer at AX and I was told ruled out from awards at AX. If not the first Lain video it is for sure the second. This is a must download if you like my work…

My love affair with Macross continues with this video which I am closed to finished re-mastering. I originally created this back around 1999 I think when I finally got a nice SVHS copy of the Macross: Do You Remember Love? movie. I always loved the cheesy flick end of Iron Eagle with the Queen Song “One Vision” and to me it was a no brainer. I never really released this video to any con as I felt it had some weak parts and then later added in the dream sequence of Rick (Hikaru) / Roy from the Macross TV series.
Fast forward 10 years… If anyone has seen the bootlegs of this anime they all kinda suck so until this I never had any reason to try to remake it. So one day I am on torrents searching and I find a download of the HD remastered Macross movie. Re-editing I have pretty much kept the same timeline, but cleaning up some sections / timing and added some additional footage.

This was my first entry into the AWA Pro contest and I know have a mixed bag feeling about it. When I first made this video nobody had the Escaflowne: Movie source and when I submitted my demo reel to Bandai some people thought this was the official Japanese trailer. When I entered it into AWA I expected it to do well and possibly win, but it didn’t and don’t feel people ever really connected with this video.
The bad…
The movie is dark and I mean the picture quality. The end battle sequences are so dark you can barely make anything out and have no clue why the animators did this so the end of the video is kinda hard to see what is going on. I also don’t know why but I kept in mouth movements towards the end which didn’t bother me much, but they looks like really bad lip sync to me now.
The good…
I love how evil the song sounds and how it matched with the movie so well as it was much darker than the series. Overall one of my favs, but I think it will be much better when I remaster it with DVD sources.
